THE MASTER CLEANSE

FASTING FACILITATION

Although people have conflicting views on the benefits of fasting as a necessary tool to reset the body and re-align the mind, fasting is an ancient tradition that has been used therapeutically since at least the 5th century. Hippocrates recommended abstinence from food or drink (as later did Plato & Aristotle) for patients who exhibited certain symptoms of physical or mental illness. Humans, like animals, do not eat when they become sick, for this reason, fasting has been called the ‘physician within’. It is not some latest diet trend nor a quick weight loss fix; it is one of the most ancient healing traditions of the past and has been practiced by virtually every culture and religion since time in memoriam.

 

I believe, it is an essential process to a holistically healthier, happier body, mind and spirit.

 

I feel very blessed to have found Peter Glickman’s Master Cleanse (started by Stanley Burroughs who created it in 1941) and connected with him in 2006. Since then, I have done 3-4 juice fasts per year, 10-17 days at a time over the last 18yrs and I can honestly say, this process puts me right back into absolute truth with my body, mind and soul. The MC has allowed me to get back in touch with any specific emotional imbalances, physical ailments or psychologically challenging times.

I believe it could help alleviate depression and anxiety when done appropriately. I am not however, suggesting it is a quick fix to mental illness, nor that it be replaced for medication of any medical or psychological condition, but that it supports the body in such a fundamental way, the results are irrevocably positive.

 

This cleanse works holistically and there are physical as well as deeply emotional detox days, which are extremely powerful if you need to let go of something that is blocked within your physical being and DNA. It is not enough to just cleanse the body and carry emotionally negative residue and not detox the mind. Likewise, it’s not enough to try clean out negative thoughts and have a toxic body.

 

This juice fast is about allowing a healthy, focused, conscious look at patterning and the way we chose to live our lives. It is a quick turnaround, and, it really does happen in just 10 days. Yes, not eating solid food is hard for most however; remember the caloric intake means you are not starving your system. You are getting everything your body needs to not just survive, but function at its optimum and rejuvenate. The first 3 days are tough due to the very real ‘detox’ symptoms one experiences; like tiredness, headaches and cravings but once the psychological ceremony around food and the mind thinking of ‘hunger’ subsides, it becomes a different process. From my personal experience of having completed 36 Master Cleanses, once the initial physical detox symptoms and cravings leave you around Day 6, your being is lighter and less cluttered. By Day 8 emotional, calm well-being is a totally natural disposition and any negative thoughts flow in and out of your mind like water. By Day 10, a sense of spiritual calm and re-focusing of goals begins. The process is like giving your body a gift. Your sleep becomes deeper, your depressive tendencies alleviate, your mind is clearer, energy is boundless and your spirit feels at home.

This is not just about not eating solid food for 10 days, it is about committing to adjusting your way of being into something much more awake, alive, conscious and present.
